The drum does not turn true to the front door. The drum is not parallel to the floor, it is lower in the back of the machine. Washer is level but I notice the door swings shut. It runs a little out of balance. I want to know if these are normal conditions.

Take off the top and back and see if you can see a problem with the components that support the drum. Something may be broken.

Shocks and springs (2) seem ok. Is it normal for the drum to slope back? I can't see any other supports other than the springs and 4 shocks. How can you tell if the shocks are bad?

Sometimes a shock or support or spring will be broken and it is impossible to tell by visual inspection. This machine is a very troubled model, so if it works ok you might want to let it go, but if it doesn't you could try changing out the shocks or consider replacing the machine.

On my maytag MAH8700AWW I would like to know if the drum centerline is parallel with the top of the machine or does it normally slope down towards the rear of the machine.
