This washer ran a load completely but there was an electrical smoke smell emitted at the time. I discovered it was the washer when I tried to run another load - it filled with water then stopped abruptly, the timer advanced quickly forward and everything stopped and would not start again no matter how the control was set (advanced around to start again, etc.). Realized smoke smell had been coming from control knob. Consulted with appliance repair who I'd sounded like was Washer Control Timer part 134343500. So we ordered one and husband installed - machine makes a small electrical hum noise and light on panel is on but machine still does not run.

Any suggestions what to think/do next? Other than go buy a new washer? 🙀
Am sadly into this problem for $292 for the part. Is there some reset that has to happen?

Thank you so much.
