Performa Washer, not really sure of age, Transmission makes clunking noise when washing, everyother mode works fine. Is it worth replacing trans ? I think I should tell customer to buy a new washer ?!

If you are certain it is the transmission then yes, a replacement is the appropriate decision. You can operate it with the front panel off to get more confirmation of where the noise is coming from.

Yes I had front cover off. Knocking sound definitely from transmission. Is it worth replacing. ?

My apologies, in my first response when I used the term replacement I was referring to replacing the machine, sorry for the confusion which was my fault.
So no, replacing the transmission is probably not a good decision, replacing the machine is.
Good luck
