Our washer does fine in the spin cycles during washing and when it drains. We get a noise during the agitation cycle only. it sounds like a bearing possible going out not sure, like a loud rubbing not quite grinding sound yet. I looked up parts and only found the complete shaft with bearing and bottom plate. Is this the only bearing in the drive systems and does this sound like the bearing is going out. I noticed that the stator( i guess) round piece with several copper spools around it is also at the bottom. I ruled that out because we have no noise in the normal spinning of machine only when it is agitating. What are your thoughts and what part do you believe it is and do you offer a service manual for this unit or instructions on how to change out the complete shaft if that is what it is?? it looks like i could turn unit in side and access bottom of tub to change it out, but everything always looks easier than it is..thanks mark

It is very difficult to diagnose a noise like yours because it can come from several places, and we really need to be there to hear it and locate the approximate source. Also, this is a rather unusual machine, even for GE and the usual suspects may not apply to your noise. Here is the service manual (from another Forum). http://appliancejunk.com/ge/washer/31-9103.pdf
