My whirlpool washer is occasionally tripping the GFI when it starts. The fill cycle starts, runs for about ten seconds, then it will trip. This doesn't happen all the time, about 20% of the time. When it does trip, it trips shortly after starting the fill cycle. Trying to figure out which part to replace - timer control or water valve? I've already tried replacing the GFI. Thanks for your input....

Okay, it is tripping the GFI, as I am sure you know, because something is shorting out and drawing a lot of amps.

When the machine is filling almost nothing electrical is happening, so it is really odd that the GFI is tripping. Take a look at the valve assembly to see if it is grounding in some way (maybe loose) and then look at the wiring from the timer to the valve assembly. If all of that looks okay I can only, reluctantly, suggest replacing the timer.

If you buy the timer from this site and it does not fix the problem, return it and replace the valve assembly.
