Our GE GTWN2800D washer is making a loud metal on metal grinding sound during agitation and spin cycle. The drive pulley is grinding on a raised portion of the frame on the bottom front of the washer.

I think you have the sagging apron issue, which is the brace that holds the tub up had bent down. They were one-piece aprons then some smart guy with GE decided they could use three-piece aprons and they will bend down causing this issue. This was a bad issue about 3-5 years ago and since then they have fixed the issue.
