Howdy!

My Roper RTW4340SQ0 washer is leaking and I would love to get some help in getting it fixed.

Some information:
It doesn’t always leak, it only leaks when I run a load of laundry.
It doesn’t leak in the back, it leaks out from under the front of the unit.
The leak isn’t a lot of water, maybe a cup or two of water with each load.
This unit is maybe 5 years old, I bought it used two years ago.

I am assuming that it is a simple loose hose or a leaky gasket. How hard will this be to fix?

Thanks!

Matthew

That is an 06 model so it's about 8 years old. Probably a leaking drain pump. Remove the cabinet so you can inspect the drain pump and drain hoses.

Thanks! Outside of unscrewing the wrong thing in the back of the washer that video made it super easy to take the body off.

But I still don't know what I am looking for, and with the body off I can't run a load. What am I looking for? There are no obvious water stains that I can see...

You can bypass the lid switch to operate the machine with the cabinet off. Then you can observe around the pump and drain hoses looking for the leak while it's running. Drain pump is the white thing attached to the rear of the motor.

Thanks!

I ran a load tonight and it now seems like it is leaking in the back... Later this week I will run it with the body off and see where it is leaking. (The washer is in a tiny cubby hole which makes it difficult to see what is going on around back...)

Okiedokie, I took off the body and took a video while it was "leaking". This was taken during the drain cycle with the body off of the washing machine. Where is the water coming from??? I have my theory but want to hear yours.

My "theory" that I had last time was TRUE! In fact, my washer is not leaking, instead the water is coming from inside the wall behind the washer when the washer drains. Seams clear to me that the pipe where the washer drains into became disconnected inside the wall. Now it's time to call the landlord!

Thanks for all of your help!
