A few weeks ago my washing machine started rattling very violently when the spin cycle slows down. I thought it might have been an unbalanced load, but I double-checked the load and have confirmed that it only happens at the very end of the spin cycle (ie, when the motor disengages).

My thought is that it might be some sort of bearing/bearing casing that has cracked that has room to play when the motor disengages and the torque is removed. Any ideas, and more important, an idea of which part on the diagram I should order, would be greatly appreciated.

My model's parts diagrams:

Thank you!

The motor does not disengage on this model, it is directly connected to the transmission and at the end of the spin cycle it simply stops at which time the brake should engage. So your problem might be that the brake is hanging up. Another problem could be a crack in the suspension, so take off the cabinet and inspect things, including the support structure and the springs.

If you do not find anything jumper the lid switch and operate it in spin cycle with the cabinet off. You may be able to spot the problem.
