Having nightmares with the door lock system on my Maytag Neptune, the right side lock broke which wasn't a problem as that's the slave lock. Now the left side lock the master is playing up.

The only way to get the washer to run is to unplug the lock as it resets the circuits but even that doesn't always work.is there a way i can bypass/remove the whole door lock system.

I'm a qualified Electrician so no problem with doing connections etc

thanks

Adrian.

I think you may be able to rewire this to do what you want. You may have to put a manual switch in line that fools the control unit into thinking the door is locking and unlocking. It is certainly something we never try because of the safety issue, and you will need the manual and a wiring diagram. Unfortunately I cannot link you to those as Maytag will no longer let us do that, but you should be able to download the material for a nominal cost from the net, or get the manual and wiring diagram from Maytag.

If you take a shot at it let us know how it turns out.

The control board locks me out when I bypass the locks so must be a feature Maytag have installed, tried an inline bypass switch and machine wouldn't even start. So I have gone on Maytag Twitter and Facebook pages shouting and screaming and had replies so hopefully the issue gets resolved. No point putting a jumper cable across the door lock either as it has a no-volt sensor wired through the control board via the motor so without that no-volt return signal it won't work, way over the top for door locks in my opinion but they just want you to buy a new washer every two years.Don't you just love these companies NOT!!!!!!.Will keep you informed of my outcome.

Very interesting information, thanks for sharing that with us. Would never have guessed Maytag did that.

Let us know if you solve this problem, sounds like you have the know how to outwit Maytag.
