Maytag washer won't empty the water after the spin cycle. There is a slow water leak into the water catch pan under the washer which appears to be leaking near where the exit hose comes out of the back of the washer. Is it likely that the pump has gone bad, or is there another way to diagnose this problem?

The way we diagnose leaks is to operate the machine with the front panel off. This way you can see where the leak is coming from. And if it drains after the wash cycle but not after the rinse cycle then that suggests a timer issue. If it won't drain after either cycle then watch will it is in drain mode and see if the motor is turning. And check the pump for an obstruction.
