My Washer transmission went out but the dryer works great and has a new belt.
Can this unit be separated and still work? I would mount it on the wall and place a new washer below it.

Also, can you recommend a good top loader washer? I need to buy one.

Thanks so much for your help!

They are not made to be separated, and I do not recommend it for safety and other reasons but it is certainly possible. Here is a link to the service manual for this model which may help you.

On the washer side any of the major brand basic top loaders are good, but you should absolutely stay away from anything with electronics in it.
