All cycles except wash cycle are working correctly. When in the wash cycle, fills then drains but no agitation. Could it be the transmission or the timer? Why only the wash cycle and not the rinse cycle. Please advise.

I am having this issue, as well. Timer has been replaced (as of an hour ago). Model Kenmore 80 Series
washer fills and drains. No agitation in the wash cycle. Drum spins when draining after wash cycle. At some point after water is drained, the drum stops. After a brief (<30 seconds) pause, drum begins spinning again. Washer fills again and when the timer reaches the "Rinse" cycle, agitation occurs. Lid switch is working properly; verified by opening lid during "Rinse" and "Spin" cycles. Draining, drum spinning, and all other actions stop. Actions resume when lid is closed again.

Probably need to change the transmission. We did and washer works fine. Trams is kind of expensive $230? So you may want to just get a new washer.

I've pretty much come to the same conclusion. We bought this washer/dryer pair when we bought the house back in Dec '98. I think it's time for an upgrade.
Thank you for your reply.
