Control board or Motor (Hall Sensor)
Model Number: MAH9700AWM Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Problem started with a OE alarm. Washer would fill for a long time until the level reached to approx half way up the viewing door. OE alarm would appear and the washer would drain to empty again. Changed the pressure switch and still having the same problem. New pressure switch reads ~2.5V pink to orange and purple to orange. ~24ohms across pink to purple. Service mode shows ~26kHz empty and ~21Khz when water is at its highest point before it goes into alarm and starts to drain.
Also noticed that there is a humming/buzz coming from the motor that I never really heard before. Started to troubleshoot with a Quick Spin Test and noticed that the drum would not turn. Tested the board output and the drum still would not turn.
After turning the power on/off a couple times the noise went away. Tried the Quick Spin Test and received an 3E error. Tried the board output again and received 3E error again.
After repeating the test a few times I observed that whenever there is that low humming from the motor the drum does not turn during the spin test or board output test with no error code. If the hum is not there the same test gives a 3E code FWIW??
Unplugged CN9 and tested the wires on the harness:
Red - White ~ 12Ω
White - Blue ~ 12Ω
Red - Blue ~ 12Ω
Unplugged CN8 and tested the wires on the harness:
Orange - all = infinite resistance
Blue to Pink = infinite resistance
Red to Pink = infinite resistance
Red to Blue = infinite resistance
Would I need to replace the motor, the board or both? Also not sure if the 3E is what caused the overfill and drain condition that started it all.
Any help would be appreciated.
