This machine is a beast and has served me well. Lately, I notice that the tub will fill, won't agitate, but will progress through the rest of the cycle as normal. If I push the knob in and move it through different cycles (pulling it out and repeating the process until it works) to a positions where it should agitate, I can usually get it to start the agitation process and then it continues through the cycle as normal. I do not readjust the lid to gain success. My thought is that the knob/timer may have worn parts. I am not sure if the machine is worth the timer being replaced, but I am not sure newer machines are made as well. Does it sound like the timer assembly (even though it does continue through the cycle draining and spinning normally) and is it worth the money to replace that part? Thanks!

Yes, it sounds like the timer and yes, it's worth replacing if the washer is in good condition otherwise. If you buy the timer from us, it can be returned if it doesn't fix the problem and it has a one year warranty. Whirlpool 22001255 Timer - AppliancePartsPros.comEric
