My washer is making a clicking/grinding sound when in spin cycle. It appears to be coming from the spring at the base of the transmission. There is a washer between the bottom of the spring and the base that the transmission and tub assembly sit on. When I rotate the tub manually I hear a click every few rotations. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,

It is very hard to diagnose a problem like yours because we are not there to hear the sound.

Anyway, see if this manual will help you remove the tub and see if replacing the bearing or some other parts there will help.

Thanks for your help. The manual will help with future repairs, but not on this one. I looked through the book and could not isolate my problem in the troubleshooting section. Do you know if the spring that is under the transmission is suppose to be lubricated? It wasn't moving smoothly and would catch as I manually spun the tub. So I sprayed it with a penetrating lube and it seems to have fixed the noise (if not it's source).

Thanks again.

I am not familiar with that part, but sounds like you did a good thing.
