12 year old stacked Kenmore (Frigidaire?) gas W/D -- as it was filling, I switched the water temperature, and the machine shut down completely. No response to any controls, washer or dryer. I admit that I haven't pulled it away from the wall yet.... it's in a very tight location. I checked the circuit breakers, and none were tripped. I suppose I'd better pull the machine and make sure there isn't a tripped GFCI back there, but there's never been a GFCI issue on that circuit in the last ten years.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Okeedokee, Step 1: check power source. GFCI had tripped. First time in ten years. Maybe my machine will be good for another 14 years. :o

Thanks for the follow up e-mail. Another way of checking this would have been to try the dryer part. If it also didn't come on that is good evidence that power was not getting to the machine.

Glad it was an easy and cost free fix
