Kenmore washing machine stopped agitating but pump worked fine.
This same thing happened about 2 years ago and I replaced the coupling and everything worked fine
When I pulled things apart the coupling on the tranny side needs replaced yes but however this time the small shaft leading into the tranny spins very easy with no resistance and the long that goes into the agitator will not move at all. Last time I was able to turn the main shaft by hand and the small shaft turned in unison. (and vice versa)
Seems a case of something inside transmission being bad and I need to replace the shebang or what?

Yes, rotating the transmission input shaft CCW should produce agitation and CW for spin. If not, time to replace the transmission.
