My GE Washer started leaking at the base of the tub. After much research, I determined it was leaking at the tub seal and ultimately disassembled the washer and replaced the tub seal, hub seal, hub nut, etc.. Since the old seal was completely deteriorated, I was sure when I put it back together that I had cured the leak. Not so...still leaking at the bottom of the tub seal, where the transmission shaft goes thru the tub. I can see the water leaking around the tub seal when the washer is filling up. I saw in another forum that the transmission might need to be replaced. I can't accept the fact that water could still be leaking thru the bottom of the tub if the seal was put on correctly, which I think it is.
My question is whether or not the tub should be leaking if the seal is good, or if there is something else to be checked before I throw in the towel on a new transmission. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
