Kitchenaid KAWE560WWH3 direct drive washer. Basket slowly spins CCW during agitate cycle and clothes wrap around agitator. I installed a new Dog-Cam kit = no help. Spin cycle operates properly.
From what I read about this symptom, it is a bad gearcase.
So, what internal gearcase part needs replacing? Would it be the Agitator Cam 285206? Maybe the drive gear and pinion 286362? (This seems less likely to me if basket spins properly)
Thanks so much.

Sounds like faulty brakes to me. The brakes prevent the basket from moving during agitation. Could also be a worn drive block but if it spins at normal speed then that's less likely the problem. Are you able to easily rotate the basket by hand in either direction?

Thanks, Eric. I was wrong...rechecked agitation cycle and basket does NOT spin. Only the lower agitator spins CCW. As in...1/4 turn, stop, 1/4 turn, stop, etc. And I noted a grinding noise during agitation (maybe plastic on plastic?). In power off mode, I can turn basket both ways but takes moderate effort.
