 The washing machine will not spin out when one item is in the washer.

Use HE soap, softened water no kinks usually in handwash cycle.
Called local repair shop, will not send out tech as they tell me to fill, and it won't work without a full load. Used to work with one item. Wife tells me she cannot wash everything together. Happens with delicates or with something like one sweatshirt. Load of towels, jeans etc works just fine!
Does not happen all the time intermitant. Checked all mechanical stuff (I Think). Is this thing possessed?

This is a late generation Maytag Neptune, which most people believe is possessed by evil spirits. Actually what we believe is that the initial Neptune was possessed and the evil presence has inhabited later versionsdespite all efforts to eradicate it. I am not making this up! (well sorta)

In your case the intermittenent nature of the problem makes it almost impossible to diagnose. I would replace the inertial unbalance switch as it is a possible cause and is not expensive and its defects could cause your problem. Here is the part.

Part number: AP4027729

Per your second post here is a tech bulletin on the part

and here is a Neptune Service Manual. Note the sections at the end which update it for later models like yours.
