Last week, our Whirlpool Washer stopped spinning. I noticed it had water and did not agitate or spin. When I put it in the spin cycle, you can hear the motor humming.

I thought the motor drive coupler went bad, and ordered the part, but I found out today that that part was just fine.

I realize there are many posts on this topic, but I am unable to diagnose further what the issue could be. Clutch? Capacitor?

Inputs appreciated.

Thanks

Pull pump away from motor and see if washer will agitate or spin. Could be jammed pump.

That was it.... MY daughter's socks is stuck way inside it and its unable to rotate. I am even unable to pull that socks out.... Most likely have to order a new pump.

Thanks for your insight. Very timely...

After I put everything back, i noticed that the spin cycle was excessively rough, and it starts banging. Today I opened it again and everything seems in order. Springs are fine (meaning, in place), but the tub is kinda loose (when I move it left and right, it moves easily and comes back to the position)....

Any ideas.

Well, if socks got between the tubs, there could be other clothing that is still between the tubs causing the problem. Also check the alignment of the suspension plate and the condition of the damper pads, 3 on top of the suspension plate and 3 on top of the base assembly that the suspension plate sits on. You checked the rear vertical counterweight spring?
