Hi-
I have a Roper washer that has worked great for the 8 years I've had this house but it just stopped working. The water fills and drains fine, and the lid switch is fine but the spindle will not turn and the spin cycle won't work.

I cannot find a model # on the machine but I can tell you its a top loading 24"wide machine. Tell me where to look for the model # and I'll look it up but it doesn't seem to be on the stickers on the back.

Any clues as to the problem? I'd love to fix it over replacing it if possible!
thanks in advance!

Can you hear the motor running or humming at all? Look under lid for model number. Can't be of much help without it.

AHA! I found the model # under the lid- it is a Roper Model # RAB4232DW0

I do hear the motor humming, just no movement. The lid switch seems to work, and it fills and empties fine. From what I've seen on the forums here it sounds like I may need to replace either the coupling or the belts? Any advice?

Yes, sounds like the motor coupler may be bad. There are no belts.

Hi- So the new coupler worked great and the installation video was very helpful. Only now, two weeks later it has started making a god awful noise on the spin cycle of metal rubbing- listen here:

Any advice?

Its a sound file so it won't go on Youtube- hopefully this share is more accessible- you should be able to listen to it from a browser:

Here is the Youtube video: Washing machine noise - YouTube

I called and the person on the phone suggested this could be a bearing but it doesn't sound like there to me. Advice?
