had a problem where our washer made a loud noise when stopping, found problem on this forum and ordered basket drive and brake assembly part #ao3094539. replaced and worked fine. now four months later- same problem. when I took out the old part, the two little "ears" on top of the shaft were badly worn. nothing else seemed wrong. what would cause this? and why are we having the same problem now?

You should have replaced the drive block as well. It is a worn drive block that can cause damage to the tabs on the basket drive.
