Duet washer purchased in 2010 has had several maintenance issues, all resolved, but is now drawing a HUGE amount of power during spin cycles (jump of 1.5kwh @ meter while spinning), driving my utility bill up by $60/mo. Anyone know what this is? Thanks!

This is a mystery, have not run accross this problem before.

The main component that would draw huge current is the heating element. It may be staying on during the spin cycle. See if you can do some diagnostics using the tech notes that should be under the top or inside the lower service panel.

I you cannot solve the problem you may want to replace the machine rather than pay that huge electric bill every month. If you can use a top loader, you can get on on sale for about $300 to $350 and the simpler the machine the better.

Great, thanks! It's been a decent washer thus far, although I think we may have run through what WP defines as a working life these days, since we average 6 loads/day, rather than the 8/week they seem to think is an average. If I can't fix it or it's too expensive to repair we will be looking for another...
