GE washer clothes coming out dirty

I have a GE profile that is not quite 4 years old and I have continuously been having a problem with my clothes coming out dirty. grey and balck splotches and lines all over them, especially whites. Any thougths on what could be causing this problem. I am afraid to wash anything other than blacks at this time.
