My Maytag top load washer will stop just during the 2nd rince cycle. If I press the timer knob it will resume. If I knock the knob likewise. This happens almost everytime but not always.
Any suggestions?

The erratic operation and that if you manipulate the timer knob it works, leads to the timer having a poor set of contacts inside. I would recommend replacing the timer, available at the link below.
