I have an older GE wbb4500g0ww washer..

Sometimes when you press Start it will fill up for a second or two and then just quit filling. Sometimes it might be 5, 10 minutes or more into the cycle. We've even seen it have a tub full of water and suds and just be sitting there. Sometimes you can tell it didn't spin properly because the clothes are sopping wet. No flashing lights, etc. it's like it just randomly quits at various times within the cycle. But sometimes it runs through the cycle perfectly fine.

I'm curious if the issue is something to do with the main control board. I really hate to have to buy a new machine.

any advice?
