My 5 year old Roper fills up with water, agitates/washes, drains and then when it hits the rinse cycle it stops and al it does is hum. The machine will not start a rinse cycle in any cycle permanent press ect. I can the turn the mashine to spin and that works. Can it be fixed inexpensively, or buy new?

So, after it drains, it won't go into spin unless you advance it there manually? What is the model number of the washer?
