I took the dishwasher out to replace the hot water hose to the washer. I was in two minds whether I should replace the drain as well. The existing drain hose(AP3178188) has the check valve in its elbow(pump side). Ran a quick test. The check valve is still in its place. What I saw was that the with the hose disconnected, if i fill it up the check valve will leak water every so slightly(drip by drip)(towards the elbow- closest to the check valve).

What I am wondering is if that means the valve is bad or if that's as good as these check valves will work.

Secondly, The washer is about 12 yrs old. Is it time to replace the drain nonetheless?

Would really appreciate a quick response as I have the dishwasher out.
