after the machine fills up it just stops. if i hit the control panel it starts working

Could be water level pressure switch, timer or lid switch. Open control panel and check connections at each. Let washer fill and when it stops, tap lightly on each with screwdriver handle to try and pinpoint which is the problem. Alternatively, check for 120vac on the tan wire of water level switch after fill has stopped.
