Symptoms:

(1) Ticking noise during initial agitate cycle, but no movement.

(2) Spin appears to be slow, lacks power.

(3) Does agitate and tub does spin.

End result; clothes don't actually get washed (no agitation) and are wetter than normal at end of cycle (weak spin cycle).

I broke this unit down pretty far and cleaned the heck out of it. It's only 6 years old and is kept inside in a very clean household - the interior of the cabinet isn't dirty.

I'd appreciate any help I can get - I am a few weeks away from a cross-country move and do NOT want to buy a new washer right now!!

The slow spin with simultaneous agitation is a bad transmission. Relatively common with these transmissions when the input pinion gear fails. They are not serviceable.
