![]() I have read through the forum and am leaning toward a timer issue but I will explain my situation first. ![]() I recently moved across country. The people that loaded the moving truck broke off the knob to my washer. Busted the shaft right off the grey knob and the clear plastic piece underneath. I have been using my washer by pushing in the shaft manually, turning the dial to the correct setting and then pulling the pin out with pliers. This has worked fine since June... Today I did two loads of laundry and then went down to change out the loads and the washer was still full of water. So, I turned the knob and nothing happened. I pushed the pin in and turned it back to the wash cycle , moved the setting to Super from Large load, and shut the lid, it filled the rest of the way and agitated but does not go into the rinse cycle. (The dial moves up until the rinse cycle and then nothing happens.) If I turn the dial it makes a humming noise as soon as I pass the rinse point on the dial. Does this sound like a timer issue or a drain issue? The switch works as the washer stops agitating when I open the lid and won't agitate unless I shut it. ![]() The fact that it will not drain means the motor is not coming on, so this does sound like a timer issue so go ahead and replace it. If you buy from this site and the timer is not the problem you can return it, but I think that will fix your problem.
