Default Hot water in [COLD] mode.
Model Number: WTW5700SW0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Machine fills with hot water when operated in COLD mode. Seems to fill ok in
COOL and WARM modes. Rinse cycles also fill w/hot water. I'm sure my temp
switch is bad but how do I access it. I've removed all external hardware but
cannot remove the back panel or gain access to the controls. The endplates
on the control section are bolted from the inside. ******************** has a good mechanical drawing of that section and they don't show those plates attached with screws. I can see the nut and stud on both ends through a small
cut-out in the rear panel.

Ok, looks like faulty ATC (temp switch). The original switches for your model and serial number range had a software calibration problem where if the temp of the incoming water was at a certain temperature, it would think the hoses were switched. The switch has a hose reversal feature that would be set to correct the problem. The only fix is to replace the switch. The new switches have been reprogrammed to correct the temperature calibration. To open your panel, insert a putty knife between end of control panel and top panel to release the clips that hold it down. Do this on each end of the panel. On the temp switch, lift the tab on the side and rotate the switch til you can pull it out.
