Alright I've resorted to asking here after doing my research and still being unable to identify a problem.
I have an Lg tromm washer that vibrates like crazy. It is on a pedestal, but it is level. With an empty load, the vibration isnt huge but is still apparent. The drum has no movement in any direction in relation to the tub (except axially, of course). With even a light load, the vibration becomes excessive. Heavier loads, I have to stop the machine for fear of further damage. There is little to no "mechanical" noise from the tub when vibrating. The shocks "tick" a lot, though as the tub rocks around.
I removed a shock absorber. Pretty simple device, no idea what a "good" or "bad" one should feel like. They are creaky when you rock the tub around, but still offer some friction. They still right around the halfway point of travel when unloaded.
Any ideas? Could the springs be worn out? Or is the entire tub suspension system gone? What seems odd to me, is that an empty and balanced tub should not vibrate even if the suspension system were worn out, right? Can the drum somehow become unbalanced (assuming good bearings)? Or does that exactly indicate bad bearings?

Try a youtube video on how to check for bearing play on a front loader and watch a couple video's on how to detect it. Check the drum for freeplay to tell if the bearing is good the drum shouldn't move more then 1/4" an inch. Grab the plastic tub part and drum and pull it up and down if there's alot of drum movement from the tub it's a bad bearing and call a professional to fix it it'll be a costly and long job or replace the entire unit. Check to make sure all your shocks and springs are in place i highly doubt you've got defective suspension parts although it is possibly but i've replaced many of those things before and still had Samsung and LG products vibrate like crazy. Samsung and LG's are the worst for vibrations their washers and dryers even brand new from the store vibrate like crazy. They make there stuff with cheap thin metals and they are known for vibration brand new. There is however a certain acceptance of vibration typically between 2-400 rpms when it's in low spin......when it gets to high speed spin it should go away and stabilize itself but then after the high speed spin when it goes back down you'll get the same brief vibration. Make sure your unit is level all the way around and is on a good solid floor, some subflooring is weak and causes this also if you have a house off the ground. Also one fact most people don't know is that these new LG's and Samsung if you talk with the manufacture when washing your loads you're supposed to wash like clothes with like clothes (jeans with jeans..........lights with lights.....towels with towels....etc etc the sensors in these machines do not like mixed up clothes) Also these new front loaders do not like too small of loads or too excessive of loads you have to find a happy medium on load size. One consideration also with vibration is your soap type believe it or not....If your unit is HE use only HE soap and do not use cheap offbrand soaps even if they are HE rated......Do not use Kirkland by Costco, Arm and Hammer, Sun, or Purex soaps......i've seen glass etched out within 4 months of a machine using purex powder formula..........i've seen clogging at the pressure switch hose from crystallization from bad cheap soap causing units to overfill with water and make a mess and the list goes on and on........This should cover most you questions and good luck.

Thanks for the response, some good information there. I swear it behaves as if there was a weight attached to the drum causing an imbalance..but it rotates very smooth and solid by hand. Definitely no movement in the drum in any direction. I tried some home depot rubber vibration reducing feet and it helped a little bit but not enough. Im sure that the floor here is not very sturdy, but even when I had the washer on a concrete slab it would still vibrate.
My next move will be to try taking it off of the pedestal. If that doesn't work, ill have to call a pro.

Yeah ultimately those machines aren't made for pedestals as far as physics go.....you have a high amount of rpm's going in circles and the higher you put it the more sway you get........make sure it's level but yeah try solid on the ground and those vibrational pads work sometimes but not always..nothing better then a good level unit on a concrete floor that's working right.
