My front loader whirlpool washing machine won't start the cycle. I can power the unit up, start the cycle, the door latches, unlatches, like it's supposed to, sometimes the drum will turn 1/4 or 1/2 revolution, then nothing happens. No water no drum spinning, nothing. I was wondering since the water was not flowing in that maybe the inlet valve is bad. I tested it with a meter and get no readings from either solenoid on the cold side. I also tested the hot side and get no readings there either. Is that common that both would go bad at the same time? Could that be my problem, the washer is waiting for the water to enter the tub but it never comes? Please help.

First off take off the bottom panel and check your drain pump for debris and clogging. It's located on the bottom in the front pull it out and clean it and the hose coming from the plastic tub........if the unit doesn't drain it won't allow water to come into the unit.........check for 120v at the drain pump if you have 120v at the drain pump and it's not making any noise then you have a bad drain pump. If that checks out ok check to make sure you have the water valves on at the wall............disconnect the water lines leading to the unit and make sure the fine filter screens on the back of the unit are not clogged with debris especially if your on well water or dirty water. After that click on your unit and take a voltage reading at your water inlet solenoids while keeping them connected you should have 120v when it's filling up if not you may have a main control board issue....Good luck
