Washer will agitate and drain fine in all speeds but will not spin in the reg or hd settings. Agitator starts to move but does not spin - replaced clutch but no change. If I push in the timer knob and shut the unit off and then pull the knob back out (not advancing the knob but only in and out ) it will engage and spin like the devil! timer continues to move as normal and will finish the cycle so i don't think its the timer but what would stop it from engaging in only 2 settings?

The drive motor must pause for a few seconds after draining in order for the gearcase to shift out of neutral to go into spin when it starts again. If the motor is not pausing, the timer needs to be replaced. Turning the washer on/off is pausing the motor. Whirlpool 661636 Timer - AppliancePartsPros.comEric
