HI,
Found this forum searching for information about my Sears Kenmore Washer.

Don't know if I have a repairable problem or if it's just showing its age and needs to be replaced.

The entire wash cycle appears to run correctly but clothes are still really wet after the final spin cycle. Big load or small, it doesn't spin-dry well.

Could there be a drive belt that is slipping (or something elas easy like that)?

Thanks,

Gary Girdler

This is a direct drive model (no belt). Typically, a slow spin is caused by a worn clutch. Also check the motor coupler although if it's agitating normally, it's probably ok. Easy to check though. Other possible problems are a worn drive block, sticking brakes, clothing between the tubs.

Eric,

Just installed the Clutch Replacement kit. The video was quite a help (Couldn't have even thought about trying without it) The replacement kit did not come with a new nylon bearing as shown in the video, so I just re-used the existing one.

My only surprise was the amount of water that drained out when I removed the drain hose (video didn't mention that little item)

Installation was very straight forward, and other than my little drain water issue, pretty easy for a guy who doesn't do very much appliance repair.

In this case though, you folks saved me the cost of a new washer. With the new clutch my machine almost dances across the room when in the spin cycle, it's so much faster and more effective than before.

Thanks a bunch,

Gary Girdler
