Could be lid switch, timer, pressure switch, level selector or motor. Does it drain/spin? If so, lid switch and motor are ok. Have you tried all three water level selections?

Thanks Eric
It does not spin or drain or agitate

Different water levels appear to work as when I switched to higher, water would continue filling and then stop

I am thinking I should look at the lid switch assembly but how the hell do you get access to it?

I'm not that familiar with this model. Looks like you need to remove the front panel (2 screws near bottom) to gain access to screws that hold top panel on. What is the serial number of your washer? There are different lid switch assembly part numbers based on the series of your washer.

Thanks Eric
I found the two bolts and the top slid off

I then removed the lid switch assembly and found two switches
A black pressure switch which I tested to work fine , simple single pole

There was a smaller white pressure switch which had a lot of corrosion on one of the electrodes. I cleaned it up and tested the switch. One of the connectors has no continuity to either of the other two connectors with pressure switch activated or not, which tells me it may be defective

I suppose if my assessment is correct I need to order a complete lid switch assembly

That make sense to you?

Thanks
John

You can just replace the white switch (check switch).

Whirlpool 207166 Lid Check Switch - AppliancePartsPros.com

These lid switch assemblies are overkill in my opinion. The black switch is the lid switch, the white one is the check switch. They are in series and both must close for the motor to operate. The other terminal on the check switch is to blow the fuse in the water fill valve circuit in the event that the lid switch fails in the closed position (welds shut). Blowing the fuse prevents you from filling the washer so it's basically useless until you replace the lid switch.

Yeh. I changed that little pesky switch, that I know I pad too much for, but what the heck! It works like a charm

Thanks for your help
