Default Maytag washer on large load fills 3/4 fullon water and then starts draining back ou g
Model Number: PAV2300AWW   Brand: Maytag   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

When on a large load the machine will fill 3/4 full of water and then starts to slowly drain back out. On other load settings one time it will fill and wash right and other times the water will start running but it must be draining at the same time because the nothing ever gets wet? Any idea where to start on this?

The drain is likely siphoning due to the hose either being too low (32" min height from floor to top of hose) or the connection to the standpipe is sealed. There must be an air break there.

Check to make sure your pressure switch hose isn't leaking. Remove pressure hose at tub side and check for residue in plastic from detergent and clean be careful don't want to break connection. Take the hose and blow into it to the pressure switch you should hear the pressure switch click on and off. More then likely you have a bad pressure switch sensing it's overflowing and attempts to drain water out. Ohm test the pressure switch.

The washer doesn't work that way. It does not have any control to sense an overflow and initiate a drain. The pressure switch simply switches between fill and agitate.

Yes your unit does it has a "water switch or pressure switch" behind the control panel board. Just follow the tube leaving the tub. Part number 21001554

Yes, it has a water level pressure switch. It's function, in conjunction with the timer, is to switch between filling or agitating. It does not sense an overflow and cause the washer to drain.
