My mom put stuff in her front load washer and a metal rod was in the stuff. The rod jammed into the rubber and put a huge rip in it. The washer when started, automatically goes to no spin on functions and hums and then turns off. There is no doubt that the boot has to be replaced. My question is... would the hole cause the washer to not fill or not do anything? Is there some sort of vacuum safety to prevent leaking or is it possible that the rod ruined something under the boot (is there anything that could be ruined under boot?) Please help. Thank you.
