Im in the middle of the bearing replacement, I'm at the step of the procedure where you hammer out the shaft from the bottom side, and the shaft just doesn't seem to want to come out. The instructions clearly show the direction the shaft comes out as being from the bottom of the washer toward the top, so I am very hesitant to attempt to hammer the other way. The bottom of the shaft is starting to mushroom out. There is a youtube video of the cabrio bearing replacement and that guy taps the shaft right out with very little effort. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.

You are suppose to have a new shaft in the kit. If that the case, first use a rust penetrating solution and if that doesn't help, try to heat the shaft with a blow torch and then hammer it out. Be careful not to melt the tub.
If nothing works, then you will need to replace the hole tub assembly. It's actually not that much more expensive and you don't need any special tools.

Good luck.
