![]() Model Number: MAH6500AWQ Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
![]() Front loading washer just started making a loud (Jet Engine) squealing noise only when spinning. Visually inspected pulley (not loose or does not appear to be worn), Pump (disassembled -- no obstructions), Drive belt (no cracks -- very flexible), motor (looks ok but have not removed as yet). Any components that I may have missed? Related Models |

![]() Hello,
Open the door and check how the inner tub is moving side to side and up & down. If it does, possible the rear bearing has gone bad. Remove the rear access panel and inspect the tub bearing. Look for any signs of a leak around it. Rotate the tub by hand and see if there is a drugging with the tub. The rear bearing coming as a part of the outer tub assembly. If the spinner support is worn out then it has to be replaced as well. - The outer tub assembly Part number: 22004465 - The spinner support Part number: W10181639 Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for Maytag MAH6500AWQ Washer - AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

![]() Thanks for the info -- I attempted to move the tub as suggested -- but my tub housing is mounted on what appears as struts -- it was difficult to detect actual movement of the tub itself. However, I did pull the unit out again and look at the rear of the tub housing again (looked at it yesterday) and I noticed tonight a small hole at the top of the tub housing, behind the drive pulley, that has metal shavings in or around it. This is the only spot on the tub housing that, one has a distinguishable hole, and two, has metal shavings around it. Not sure if the shavings came from the hole or the pulley above it. Now I'm really confused.............

![]() It points to a bad rear bearing and may be a worn spinner support. The only way to determine exactly wast is wrong is to take it apart.
Gene.
