My washer has recently started to spill lots of bubbles from the vent pipe located at the back. I know this pipe is connected to a hose then to the tub. However as far as i know the vent pipe should only be for venting. Does anybody know why bubbles would spill out from here? Any information would be helpful. thanks!

Hi.

The Whirlpool Duet washing machine is designed for use with high efficiency detergents. If you decide to use detergent that is not HE, it can result in leaks because the non-HE detergent creates an excessive amount of suds in the washer. If you are experiencing a leak from the rear of the machine through the air vent, you should switch to the HE detergent, and that will stop these leaks.

Simon.
