Hello, I have a 2 year old whirlpool washing machine Model # wtw5600xw0 with the flat type agitator on the bottom. The machine goes through the whole wash but the agitator no long spins or works.. is it supposed to spin freely when the machine is off? I thinking maybe just the plastic part itself is no longer good? or does the part from under that flat agitator come up in engage the agitator? So basically everything works but the agitator doesnt engage and spins freely when the machine is off. Please help
Thanks

Well after taking the wash plate off and on and looking how everything works I just went and order a new wash plate. It seems the old one is wore out were it connects to the spindle. Hopefully this works otherwise I'm out 40 bucks! I will re-post on Thursday when the part arrives. If anyone know if this isnt the problem please post a suggestion. ;)

Parts are on their way! Hopefully this is all I need. I will keep you advised. Part was delivered and installed. It works. What was wrong with the older wash plate? I believe because is it sits on a medal spindle and with its high torque and resistance from the cloths over time the crappie plastic wash plate wears out. I don't know why they couldn't add a sleeve (medal to medal) is beyond me. I plan on keeping the old one and drill a larger hole and and my own sleeve for the next time it breaks!!

I think it is just something random. I work on these all the time and have not seen a stripped one.
