My GE washer fills up with water. It goes through the wash cycle, but will not actually agitate to wash or rinse the clothes. It makes a funny noise all through the washing. Like a buzzing noise. There is no problem with it filling and letting out the water. It just does not wash.

Remove the front panel so you can observe whats going on. In agitate, check the bottom of the motor. There is a clip on the bottom of the motor shaft. Does the clip spin? What about the motor pulley, belt and main drive pulley? With washer off, you should be able to freely rotate the motor pulley in the CCW (viewed from below) which causes agitation and in the CW direction which should rotate the entire transmission. It will be a little more difficult to rotate in the CW direction.
