Recently the machine makes a loud squealing noise when the spin cycle starts, but dissapears once up to speed. There is also a slight mechanical noise that is present but hard to describe.
I thought it was the belt, but it still does it after replacement.
Also, this started after we used a TIDE washing machine cleaner, but it may be coincidental !
Any help or suggestions on how to trouble shoot would be appreciated.

It is hard to diagnose noises from afar, but with the model it may be that the brakes are not releasing properly. You can try replacing the thrust bearing, here is the kit Part number: AP4009132
Instructions are included.

I don't think there is any real way you can see the problem, so go ahead and change it out. The thrust bearing on these models fails after a while, so replacing it is really good maintenance.
If you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it.
Also this can be a one person job but it really helps to have a helper.
