How do I remove the agitator on my ge washer?

The agitator should pull straight up with a hard tug.
If you cannot get it off you could try the following, take a look at "GE new style washer"

You could get a piece of rope under the agitator and yank upwards(watch yer nose). OR ya can grab it by the neck and snatch it off if you is big as hulk hogan.
They do sell a gadget that has 2 loops on it a flat bar and a handle. . What ya do is secure them loops oposite each other and start turning that handle. The flat bar lays across the top of the machine. You keep a twisting and that agitator will eventually pop off there. Or do like bubba and hook a chain paw to it,let gravity do its thang. Seen it.
