Default Washer agitates, drains, won't spin
Model Number: WJXR2080T5WW   Brand: GE   Age: Less than 1 year

My washer does everything BUT spin. At first I thought it was the lid switch and I tested it for continuity and it appears to be good. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Remove the front panel and observe the operation of the motor, belt and main pulley. In spin mode, is the motor running? Does the motor pulley rotate? If so, is the belt and main drive pulley rotating.

The only thing running during spin mode is the pump pulling the water out. Been trying to do some research around the Internet and have seen things saying possibly the timer or reset the motor?

There is no reset on this motor, it is not electronically controlled. You may have a faulty timer or speed select switch. If you can provide a clear photo of the wiring diagram and timer chart I can advise further. The tech sheet should be tucked inside the control panel.

Unplug washer, disconnect the wires at pin 3 and 6 of the speed select switch and jump them together. Make sure nothing else is touching these connections including yourself, plug washer back in and try spin mode. If it spins, the switch is faulty. If not, it's the timer or wiring issue. You would have to make some live line voltage measurements with multimeter to determine which. Most likely the timer.

I did what you said and no spin. Also, it won't fill now. It wasn't filling earlier but I assumed it was bc the cycle wasn't allowed to finish. I let it finish and tried to start a new cycle from the beginning but it immediately begins agitating without filling.

If it starts agitating with no water in the tub, then there's a problem with the water level pressure switch. Check the air dome and hose on the lower left side of the outer tub for gunk. When filling, the rising water level causes air pressure in the air dome and hose which activates the pressure switch when full. That cut's off the water inlet valves and starts agitation. After draining, if the air pressure doesn't release right away, the washer won't go into spin and when you go to wash cycle again, it will not fill and will just start agitating. If there's no gunk in the air dome and/or hose, it could be the contacts in the pressure switch sticking. Pull the air hose off of the pressure switch and put timer in spin to see if it will go into spin. If not, jump together the yel/blk and brn wires from the pressure switch and try spin. If it won't, were back to a timer or speed switch problem. This is a pretty simple washer design but you may have more than one problem going on.

Not sure what the air dome is but I think I found it. The tube looks clear, but the air dome (box) is translucent and appears to be absolutely filled with gunk (picture below)... How do I clean it?
