Last weekend it started with a loud screetching sound, during the wash cycle. a day later my wife said it didnt spin. I looked at it and noticed that during the spin cycle it would just pulsate for a few minutes an sometimes it would speed up but not completely. in the meantime the noise had disa[eared. I also noticed that during the wash cycle and agitation the tub would move back & forth in oppisite directions.

Open the control panel and get the tech sheet. It will give instructions on getting into service mode to check for error codes. Also remove the front panel and check the flashing LED on the top of the inverter board on the motor for error codes as well. Check that the motor shaft, belt and main drive pulley are not touching the bottom of the washer during operation.

I have a 4 flash code, I believe that's a mode shifter problem.
