Model Number: wpre6100gowt Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Motor runs while agitation but the tub is going back and forth and not the agitator. The motor is reversing back and forth at this time also. Is the problem in the control panel or the transmission control post?

Likely a faulty mode shifter. Check the inverter boards flashing LED (top right side)(above motor). A 4 flash code indicates a bad mode shifter. Unplug the mode shifter from the inverter board, 2 wire connector (red and yellow) and check continuity across the wires. Should read about 98 ohms. If open, you need to replace it. Requires complete disassembly of tub assembly.
